Today I received following question:

I purchased a new computer and need to move Xpert-Timer from my old one to my new one. What’s the easiest way to do that?

Well, the answer is quite simple. Please follow these instructions:

  1. Start Xpert-Timer on your old system and write down the path to your database. You can find this path if you point to “Help” -> “Info about Xpert-Timer” -> “System info” in your project manager.
  2. Navigate to that path using your File Explorer.
  3. Shut down Xpert-Timer.
  4. Copy the database file (xt.mdb) on a memory stick or a network path you have access to with your new computer.
  5. Install Xpert-Timer on your new computer and again look for the path to your database file in “Help” -> “Info about Xpert-Timer” -> “System info”.
  6. Navigate to that path.
  7. Shut down your “new” Xpert-Timer.
  8. Now copy the database file from your old system into the new system. The new, empty xt.mdb will be substituted by your old, full xt.mdb.
  9. Start Xpert-Timer on your new system and all your data should show up again.

In case you get a database error, make sure, you copied the xt.mdb from your old computer when Xpert-Timer was NOT running. Access creates a second file, a lock file in case there’s access to the database. If you copy the database while there’s access to it, the file’s corrupt. So make sure, there’s only one xt.mdb. No worries about xt_demo.mdb, that’s the database filled with demo data. You don’t need that.

Today I received an email with a question that might be interesing for all Xpert-Timer Mobile users:

“Is there a way to run a report by a certain time period? For example from February 13th to February 25th? Maybe also filter by client and project? So far I have only found an option to run a daily, weekly and montly report.”

Yes, you can creat a report by daterange, with a project and client filter. Follow these instructions:

1.) Open your daily report by tapping on “Today”.
